Copying a source citation as a form of plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of using someone else's piece of work as your own without their concert. Citation is acknowledging another author's work.

Citation is done to acknowledge the real author of the book, provide readers with the title of the book, year of publication and the name of the company where the book was published.

Copying a source citation is a form of plagiarism. Just like the name suggests, copying is plagiarism. The citation is copied without acknowledging the author. Any work that is copied from any source must be quoted, details about the book or page where it was found provided, and the name of the author should also be given.

Failure to do so is termed plagiarism. The writer will be using someone else's ideas. Any idea that is not your own should be cited. Copying a source citation is therefore considered plagiarism.

Copying a source citation is using a source material structure. To do so you need to acknowledge where the work was lifted from. The act of copying without giving evidence is plagiarism.

Copying a source citation can be done through paraphrasing. Paraphrasing uses synonyms to replace a word. It is a form of plagiarism for the writer only changes the original words. The content is not theirs. They did not take part in writing.

Another form is where the writer gives the wrong information about a source of quotation. The writer erases the name of the book to fit their interest. The erasing part is considered plagiarism for the source was copied.

Copying a source citation and failing to put a quotation in quotation marks is plagiarism. The quotation marks indicates the words belong to somebody else. If a work lacks quotation marks, the reader will assume you are the original owner.

Source-based citations is considered plagiarism for copying is involved. The only difference is that writers tend to change words, ideas, style of reasoning and use paraphrases.

Every author has different styles of writing. The choice of words cannot be the same. Some writers like simple short sentences while others like long sentences. Some will use vocabulary while others will use plain statements.

Copying a source citation as a form of plagiarism

Writers are allowed to borrow their fellow author's work but through acknowledging the work. Copy-pasting is not recommended.

This form of plagiarism can be avoided through research. Research ensures writers understand all the possible types of plagiarism, understand different referencing styles like APA, MLA and Chicago among others.

Citation styles are also understood. For example, a book written by 2 authors. The writer should include both their names in the citation . If a book was edited by a different person, their name should also be included.

Citation is meant to give credit to the owners of the book. It is a form of appreciation on their part. It also guides the readers to know where they can find the work, helps readers differentiate your work with another author, and lastly, it is a form of showing academic discipline and respect of people's work.

Copying a source citation is not plagiarism if all the writing rules I have discussed above are adhered to
