Efficiency in essay writing.

An essay is generally a piece of writing or an article that shows the author's argument or point of view regarding a specific topic and it can be either formal or informal. Writing essays for whatever reason is often viewed as overwhelming, especially to students writing for a scholarship, or a contest or exams. Essay writing is a large project although it can be broken down into parts that make it easier to come up with the whole project successfully.

Firstly, one needs to pick a topic, which may either be assigned, in which case is easier, or the author may be required to write on the subject of his choice. Where the topic is assigned, the author has to research first, to familiarize himself with the topic fully. Choosing a topic requires the author to research as well and come up with a topic he is mostly interested in. He should determine the purpose of the essay, whether it is to educate, warn, persuade or even debate and work towards achieving this purpose.

After establishing the topic and researching on it, it is necessary to prepare an outline of one's ideas. It is vital to organize one's thoughts and connect linking ideas in the process. This is achieved by writing down the main idea then breaking it down into other smaller ideas that relate to the main one. This is usually the rough draft that the author uses when coming up with the body of the essay. It is necessary to be creative when outlining the ideas as creative ideas results to a creative essay.

A thesis can consist of two parts; the first part consisting of the topic of the essay and the second part illustrating the point of the essay. The next step is writing the body of essay, following the ideas outlined in the second stage. Each idea outlined during preparation becomes a separate section within the body of the essay. The main idea is written first then the points supporting and illustrating the main idea, follow. In the essay there is an introduction section which shows the focus of the essay and an attractive introduction is advisable, to catch the reader's attention. It should also have a conclusion, where the author summarizes his thoughts by providing a final perspective to bring closure to the essay.

Having finalised on everything, the author has to do the final touches to make sure the essay is in order. He has to check the order of paragraphs and the sentences, to make sure they flow smoothly. He also has to review the instructions and check to ensure they have been followed to the latter. Finally he should reread his work to check for any grammar mistakes or spelling errors, and correct them if any.

In conclusion, to become more efficient in writing essays is easily achievable if one follows the above steps. It may seem difficult at first but researching on the topic effectively is most important and it comes in handy when an author wants to flow and write essays effectively.
