What is the definition of plagiarism?

According to the dictionary, "to plagiarize" means to take, to steal someone else's ideas, expressions, inventions, and to present them as your own creations, or to publish fragments of someone else's work with your name on it. The origin of the term "plagiarism", is found in the latin word "plagium".

Plagiarism has been practiced since ancient times, and as I said above, it was used for the first time by the romans. The romans called plagiarists, on those who robbed, or hid stolen objects, or helped the persons pursued by law to hide.

At the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century, the use of the word "plagiarism" in english is attested for the first time.

Today there are several types of plagiarism, namely: global plagiarism, paraphrasing plagiarism, mosaic plagiarism, verbatium plagiarism, incorrect citation and self-plagiarism.

Global plagiarism, is when you present an entire text written by someone and claim that it is yours.

Paraphrasing plagiarism, is when you paraphrase someone else's idea, without saying the name of the person to whom that idea belongs.

It is very difficult to write

Verbatium plagiarsm is when you simply copy a paragraph from a book, without saying the name of the book and its author.

Self-plagiarism is when you copy a passage or paragraph from a paper written and published by you in the past.

Incorrect citation is when you fail to write all the sources of information from which you were inspired, when you wrote your paper work.

Mosaic plagiarism is when you combine texts and ideas from multiple sources, without citing those sources.

In american law, plagiarism means the repeated use of more than 8 words, without specifying the source.

It is very difficult to write a work or a book, without being accused of plagiarism, because although you use your own words and expressions, it is very likely that someone else has used them before you, and you do not know this, that's why, when writing, you need to document yourself on the Internet, not just in the library, otherwise you will realize at some point that you have involuntarily plagiarized someone.

What is the definition of plagiarism?

Online there are sites that can help you discover whether or not you have plagiarized someone. It is enough to upload your work on such a site and in a few minutes, the site will tell you approximately what percentage of your work is considered plagiarized.

Like I said, today it is very difficult to write a book, and that book is considered 100% original, so you have to arm yourself with patience and write everything as you think, using your own words and expressions.

Today, plagiarism is especially emphasized by the internet because it is so simple to download all kinds of articles, ideas and images.

Each one of you has his or her own way of writing, but yet of the millions of people in this world, it is not impossible that there is someone out there who thinks exactly like you.

However, remember that when you plagiarize, it is possible to be punished, in one way or another, depending on the situation.

Be original.
